Doctor Appointments - Triage Telephone System
Due to an increase in demand we have now have a triage system to improve access to our services. All calls are confidential. The Triage Team are working with and are supervised by the On Day Duty GP. As part of this process all telephone calls will be triaged and you will be asked details of the nature of your call to enable them to assist you more appropriately. The On Day Duty Team consists of an On Day Duty GP and an Advanced Nurse Practictioner(s). Please try to call between 8am-11am for urgent on the day calls
If you are at our Reception and wish to discuss anything in private, please ask a member of the Patient Liasion Team for the use of our dedicated interview room.
(Please note the pre-bookable telephone and face-to-face appointments are currently not available due to the Covid-19 Pandemic)
You can make an advanced telephone GP consultation appointment by contacting the Practice on 01386 765600 between 8.00am and 6.00pm weekdays or online through Patient Access. When you telephone the Practice to make an appointment with a GP, the Triage Team will ask for a little information to be able to book the next appropriate telephone GP consultation appointment. These GP telephone consultation appointments are available 2 weeks in advance. The Triage Team will no longer arrange direct GP face to face appointments.
If your call is urgent please endeavour to call us between 8.00am to 11.00am (when possible). Your call will be triaged by our Triage Team and if your call is deemed as urgent a message will be given to the On Day Duty Team. They will then assess and make an appointment for you if needed. Please do not request to speak with the On Day Duty Team if your need is not urgent. Our Triage Team can assist with administration requests more efficiently than requesting a call back from the On Day Duty Team.
Urgent appointments are not for repeat prescriptions, fitness for work certificates or for signing forms.

Automated Patient Check-in
(Please note the Automated Sign-in pad is currently out of use due to the Covid-19 Pandemic. Please use the intercom system and book yourself in with our Receptionist)
The Practice now has an automated arrival facility. Instead of queuing at the Reception desk to let us know you have arrived for an appointment, you can arrive yourself simply and quickly by pressing a few buttons on the touch screen positioned on the right hand side of the waiting room.
Our touch screen will ask you for your gender and your date of birth. From those 2 pieces of information, the touch screen will find your appointment and display your appointment time and GP/Nurse, asking you to confirm if the appointment details are correct. Once you have confirmed these details, your clinician knows you are in the waiting room and you can take a seat. There is no need to report to the Reception desk.
All patients are entitled to have a chaperone present for any consultation, examination or procedure where they feel one is required. Sometimes you may wish to be accompanied by a family member or friend. At other times you may wish to have a formal chaperone present i.e. a female member of our clinical team, though at busy times the chaperone may be a member of our support team. Wherever possible please make this request at the time of booking your appointment, so that we can make the necessary arrangements.
Whilst we will always do our best to provide a chaperone if requested, this may necessitate us re-scheduling your appointment for a time when a chaperone can be present. Your healthcare professional may also require a chaperone to be present, for certain consultations, in accordance with our chaperone policy.
